About WhirlWhims, LLC
Our History
WhirlWhims LLC burst into the amusement games business in 2001, when we launched Pitchburst®. It was invented for our family's backyard fundraising carnival, as an alternative to a traditional dunk tank (which couldn't be used at the time because of regional drought water use restrictions). Our business was born the next day - when people from the carnival called to say how much fun they had playing the game, and asking where they could rent or buy one just like it. Boom Blaster was launched in 2005, and Downpour Derby in 2006/2007, Spin Soaker in 2008, and - coming soon in 2009 -- Dragonbreath Dragsters. Our "drawing board" is always full of new game ideas for the future - with more Wow! & Whimsy than ever!
Our Mission
We exist to deliver unique fun to you and your customers. Since our start, we've listened hard and learned tons about what it takes for a game to succeed. It's more than just the idea, it's the execution - quality, durability, ease of use, good value, customer support, plus great graphics and marketing materials to generate customer excitement about the games. We believe we were first in the industry to launch and promote game-specific websites - including free "nearest rental" listings for game owners - to consumers. All of our games deliver what Pitchburst has done from Day 1: fun to play and watch, with a punctuating "payoff" moment tied to its whimsical clever design. We call this our unique "Wow! & Whimsy."
Our Team
The game ideas themselves originate from being overgrown kids who love to have fun. Bill Holsten, who has a Masters' Degree in marketing and invents the games with his family, has trained with Doug Hall, one of America's best "creativity gurus" (he runs Eureka! Inventing and was a judge on the reality TV show American Inventor). Janet Holsten, Director of Sales, has had an accomplished career in customer service, and has also been a volunteer with PTAs and charities in organizing fundraising events. Our games are manufactured by a network of high quality machine shops in New Jersey and New York, and warehoused in Somerset, NJ.
